Plant-Based Holiday Hams & Tofurky Roasts distributed to those in need

Suffolk County, NY—
This Monday, December 18th, Humane Long Island will be distributing 100 free delicious plant-based holiday hams and Tofurky roasts—translating to 500 servings—alongside Southampton Councilmember-elect Michael A. Iasilli outside Tenet in Southampton and outside Devoshion's new store at the Smith Haven Mall! Humane Long Island's "Santa Claws" sloth mascot will also be in attendance for photographs with kids!

"Whether a fish or a horse, a pig or a dog, no animal wants to suffer and die for our palates," said John Di Leonardo, executive director of Humane Long Island, "so this holiday season Humane Long Island is making it easy for the public to stuff themselves with tasty vegan foods that let both humans and animals enjoy the holiday!"

Southampton: Monday, December 18, 2023, 10am until 2pm or supplies run out; outside Tenet, 91 Main St, Southampton, NY 11968; w/Southampton Councilmember-elect Michael A. Iasilli.

Smithtown: Monday, December 18, 2023, 3pm until 4pm or supplies run out; outside Devoshion at 313 Smith Haven Mall, Lake Grove, NY 11755.

In addition to distributing free vegan holiday hams in Smithtown and Southampton this holiday, Humane Long Island plans to distribute vegan roasts at New York City's live slaughter markets in exchange for the markets sparing the lives of live birds, an annual tradition the organization performs both ahead of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Humane Long Island has already rescued one turkey with more to come ahead of the holiday!

Humane Long Island can be available for promotional interviews to get the word out to those in need any day ahead of the giveaway and also on site at Tenet or Devoshion on Monday. I can be reached at 516-592-3722 or John@humanelongisland.org.
