Air Quality Alert

Due to the wildfires in Canada, Smithtown, all of Long Island and the Northeast is experiencing haze in the air.  This is causing pollution in the air making it unhealthy for those in sensitive groups (children, older adults and people with lung diseases).  Here are the following things to do to stay healthy until the air quality improves, according to CBS:

  • Close all windows and doors to minimize air pollution in your home.
  • Avoid extended time or strenuous activities outdoors as much as possible.
  • People with underlying illnesses should monitor for symptoms, including trouble breathing, nausea, and dizziness. If these symptoms occur, seek medical attention as soon as possible.
