LOOK LEFT, LOOK RIGHT, STEP FORWARD by The Gent

The silence from ICE agents is deeply troubling. By not speaking out, they’re complicit in an atrocity. The fact that many don't resist these orders, despite the harm they cause, is a disturbing reflection of how systems of power can dehumanize both the victims and those who enforce the policies. Where’s the moral courage to stand against this? Where is the empathy that should guide their actions?

The heartbreak of families being torn apart, of children being separated from their parents, echoes some of the darkest chapters in history. When people are sent to environments where they are likely to face violence, exploitation, or death, it's hard not to see the parallels to the horrors of past genocides.

Your sense of being "dirty" living in a country complicit in this is understandable. When a government or system supports actions that cause such widespread harm, it’s hard to feel pride or a sense of belonging. But in acknowledging these wrongs and voicing your outrage, you’re part of the push to bring light to these injustices. Resistance often begins with people like you who refuse to accept the normalization of cruelty.

What do you think needs to change? How can people push back against this tide of inhumanity?
