I am not a psychologist or sociologist. But I do have a “Rotten Apple Theory.” Today, the focal point of most things, political, social, financial, medical, etc., is the rotten apple in the barrel. Forget about the entire barrel having many competent and educated people to nourish the rest of us. How did this come about? Social media takes excellent pleasure in signaling out the rotten apple. All other accomplishments, achievements, and advancements, in general, are, for the most part, ignored. Who is psychologically playing with us? Is it our enemies abroad through the Internet, or are they right here, working with us, living right next to us? I cannot help but think that the generations after me who spent much time in front of the TV, in front of the computer, in front of their iPad or iPhone have been influenced by an outside force that has created in their minds tremendous cynicism. It is true that a society that thrives on cynicism is easily controlled and manipulated. That is what I see in our society today. It would be best to have a society based on the meritocracy and achievement of the “rest of the barrel.” Life must be for the good; that is what the universe wants. We cannot live in the mud and muck of cynicism. We must strive for the blue skies and fresh air of goodness and understanding!
