Look Left, Look Right, Step Up by The Gent

So you have been “around the block” a few times. Some of us would like a few of those “blocks” back. Today, I want to give back a little more than usual. Life will throw you many curveballs, as we all know. It is how we see and handle them that counts. Most people would say, “You make the small decisions with your head but you make the big decisions with your heart.” It usually has served me well but many times I had to fight off selfishness. I must admit, that I have failed to fight it off several times. The big picture gets very blurry when you’re selfish. Those truly important things like your responsibilities, dignity, empathy and family traditions get pushed aside kinda like when you know you shouldn’t have eaten that second piece of cake. Your logic short circuits and you eat it. What I found we really forget is that life is a very long journey for most of us. Those decisions made when only a quarter, third, or even a half of our life has passed, unknowingly at the time, will echo through our entire life. I can vouch for that. What I really want to “give back” today is a sentence with strong advice before you make those big decisions. Your heart may feel one thing but life at times without your head and heart getting in the way will tell you another if you will only listen!

Life is family, children, loyalty, stability, sacrifice, service, and commitment. Think about all of that very hard before you make the next life-changing decision it will affect your entire life. God’s Speed.
