The Smithtown Chamber of Commerce brought back an Evening of Art & Music on October 26.  COVID-19 caused cancellations in the art show, however they managed to bring the event back with a sizable crowd.

Barbara Franco, the executive director of the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce, has coordinated the event and invited the chamber members of Smithtown and Nesconset.  It's there way of bring people together, embracing the arts and networking with other business associates.

"It's wonderful to be with these fabulous exhibits and coordinate this with Allison Cruz, who is the executive director here," Franco said.  "So we invite people from the Nesconset chamber and of course their members and us.  We do this once a year because so many people that live in our community, so we really want to show this off and the house really spotlights this community."

The artwork that was displayed was the last night of them being shown.  From abstract to oil on canvas, the art gallery had plenty of work from artists such as Steven Assael.  The last night of these artists work went out with a celebration.

"This show has a lot of figurative artwork, realism and basically I invited a curator for this show," Allison Cruz, executive director of the the Smithtown Township Arts Council said.  "The goal was to show that these artists for two years because of Covid did have an opportunity in a lot of cases to get into their studios and a lot of them figuratively paint from live models.  These artists continued to paint, but they did have to do a lot of adjustments to their normal paintings.  But once you're an artist and it's in your heart you find a way to do it."

People who attended the gallery also enjoyed the food and drinks that were served.  They had mini sandwiches, a cheese platter, a mini bar and a non-alcoholic bar.  In addition, they had music from local singer, Tom Damiani.  People had dinner and a show.

Another sign of normalcy was shown when the Evening of Art & Music came back this year.  The next art show at the Mills Pond House is scheduled to be on Nov. 6.
