They finally made a large fentanyl arrest in the Bronx the other day. Don’t you think with all the money spent on drug abuse there should be major arrests every week for illegally selling fentanyl or any other kind of opiate? It seems to me one major arrest every year is satisfying the public! I don’t see any protestors in front of the Manhattan DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) offices. In the late '70s, I worked with a “strike force” at the Huntington Quadrangle on Long Island. We were fighting the same ‘evil’ that was killing people by the hundreds. Last year, 2022, there were over 100,000 deaths from drug overdoses. Can you imagine that, in one year? How long is this going to go on? During the Vietnam War which spanned from 1964 to 1975, 47,434 brave young soldiers died. We lost over 100,000 people in one year from drug overdoses! When are we really going to wake up? Isn’t it beyond waking up?
We have to vote for individuals who need to be totally vetted (investigated fully) and see what their ideas are concerning our children, our country, our climate, and our way of life and hopefully, the majority of the population will be able to end this insanity and make some real progress. In Singapore, for example, if you are convicted of trafficking controlled drugs containing more than 250 grams, you will face a mandatory death penalty. How about starting right there?

I watched the Alabama football game this weekend. There were over 100,000 fans in the stadium. That entire stadium, figuratively speaking, died of an overdose in 2022. Wow!
It's just sickening to realize that a football stadium holds approximately 100,000 people. As you pointed out to me the other day, "Look at all those people; that's how many drug over doses and deaths there were due to drugs". That really brought it home when you actually see what that number looks like in actual people. Dear God, how do we stop this dying?
Very sad. We are in very deep trouble in this country. We have no real leadership. The leaders are all clowns. Losers. It used to be that politicians were successful and rich people who wanted to give back to the system that enriched them by holding office and using power to solve problems. Or they were high intellectuals who thought they understood the problem and how to solve it. Think of Daniel Moynihan. Since Watergate, that has all changed. And not for reasons you think. We cannot get quality leaders anymore because of the “dirty laundry” mentality that it has become. Investigate, embarrass, arrest, and prosecute your political enemy. What rich guy wants that? So who runs now? Losers. People looking to make money. People who have accomplished nothing with their lives, so what do they know about solving problems? There is no Reagan coming. He doesn’t exist anymore. The best you can do is try to move to a country where there is zero tolerance for bullshit(Australia, Belgium, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Monaco, etc) or move to a state where there are no mongrels. Where, I don’t know. New Hampshire? Maine? Sadly, the “common sense old timers” are outnumbered. I am not optimistic. And I fear the trouble is just starting. MDM
