I was trying to find a place to rent for a friend overseas on Craig's List. I thought I found the perfect place. This was the email they sent back to me. My entire correspondence with them turned out to be A Scam. This is the insidious length they will go, please be aware. It is self-explanatory.

Due to the current situation with the Covid-19 Variants and monkeypox outbreak or Poxvirus , we no longer conduct personal tours.
This home has 1 bedroom and 1 bath with a rent of $1000 Per month (including utilities) and a security deposit of $1200. This beautiful home is located at (redacted), Smithtown, NY 11787. My Wife and I are also moving back to Los Angeles, CA on a job transfer and for medical/ health reasons, I've been diagnosed with Stage3 (Oropharyngeal Cancer) Oropharyngeal cancer includes a lump in the neck and a sore throat
I inherited this home from my late father, he was actually residing there until his death, which is why I am offering the unit for lease. Also, I would like you to know that the rent charges are not really an issue here, but your absolute maintenance of the house, because it is good to keep the property in good condition, just for the memories of my father who committed so much putting those facilities in place, so I wouldn't want a violation of my property if finally rented by you.
