So we are in the world of analytics and entering the world of AI. More threats of destruction for humanity along with nuclear energy. What is it with us humans? Things are going fairly well, our parents have accepted our spouses, we found a good job, the neighborhood is peaceful, and the kids are doing fairly well. Oh, we’ll be better off taking in a stray dog, or a homeless person, or taking pills the pharmaceuticals created when we are feeling down.
We see animals every day surviving over millennials using the same instincts, methods, patterns, etc. They have been used for thousands of years. But society in its infinite stupidity, not wisdom, creates problems that threaten our very existence!
Here’s my take. Analytics is just another means of making us robotic, lazy, mindless beings. It is taking away our innate abilities given to us by our ancestors through history, trial, and error, and DNA. What happened to a woman’s intuition, your gut feeling, or feeling like you’re in a zone? Professional Sports are being destroyed by it. Several times the manager for the Yankees took out a pitcher while he was cruising along only to lose the games. Why? Because the analytics told him to. Gambling, which causes heartbreak for so many people and families throws analytics at you and tells you, “You have a chance to win.” Analytics and now AI is causing companies to fire people because they can make more money with robotics etc. What happened to the human element of teamwork, camaraderie, concern, and tradition? Please, don’t let me leave out love for your fellow human being. Analytics and AI will tell you, you are on the wrong path and making the wrong decision. It really is telling us, “Stop using them!!”
Jerry’s Rule: Humans come first. Analytics, AI, and Nuclear Power should be only used for medical and emergency society-threatening problem-solving. The rest should be left to us humans to work out.
