Look Left, Look Right, Step Up by the Gent

The people of Ukraine, despite facing horrendous circumstances and terrible odds . . . still raise their heads and cry out at the enemy . . . you can't beat us. You may knock us down . . . but you can't beat us . . . and even should we die in the attempt to succeed, the battle will not have been lost, because someone . . . somehow will have been encouraged and uplifted to carry on the fight. That is “True Courage.”

On a different “battlefield,” ‘True Courage’ comes when one person is faced with a hard challenge and chooses to stand up to it. He or she moves forward regardless of the fact that they are overwhelmed, nervous, and frightened. For example, there are individuals fighting their own personal medical battle, or the man or woman who stands by their spouse or child during dire medical circumstances or an adult child who must care for their elderly parents. There are millions of people every day showing their courage in different ways and circumstances. Are the rest of us showing ours? All sacrifices must not go in vain. They must inspire us to live better, be generous, kind, love, and respect each other and our surroundings. Kindness is never wasted. May God and his/her Army of “Guardian Angels” bless and protect us all and especially the Ukrainian men, women, and children during their enormous struggle for freedom.
