COMMACK, NY - Some people may have heard that a new café is coming to the Mayfair Shopping Center in Commack. Now Bagel Toasterie is scheduled to be open in the first week of December.
The decision to add this new café was made in early 2020 (pre-pandemic). Eddie Kayi and Jay Aslantas, owners of the new eatery, have already made progress with the construction.
"I just see the empty, nice big shopping plaza," Kayi said. "It's a nice place, nice town, I like Commack you know. I try to get it done as soon as possible."
Kayi and Aslantas also own and operate the Bagelicious Café in Port Jefferson. Instead of frozen bagels, they use their own dough and make fresh bagels for their customers. Now they plan on doing the same thing for the new café.
"We do our own bagels, our own dough and people like and business went into double," Kayi said. "Everything is going to be fresh, nothing frozen."
Due to COVID complications, they had to delay their opening. However, they have everything that they need. The owners are currently looking for employees to work for them and once they do they will be able to open their new business.
No official date for the opening has been revealed yet. However, Kayi and Aslantas are set to open Bagel Toasterie in the first week of December.
More details to come.
