The Smithtown Chronicle is seeking contributing writers to join our team. We are in search of local Smithtown and/or Long Island residents with a passion for writing to keep our neighbors informed of what’s happening in our community.
Positions Open:
Writer to cover Smithtown schools
This person would attend the Smithtown Central School District Board of Education monthly meetings. Coverage of school events (ex. fundraisers) and features on certain student achievements are necessary.
Writer to cover local government
Our ideal candidate will attend the Town of Smithtown Board meetings. There are meetings typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 p.m. You would be sharing updates with the community on the projects that they’re working on and important discussions of interest to the community. 2-4 articles per month are needed.
