LOOK LEFT, LOOK RIGHT, STEP FORWARD by The Gent

I read for a third time, "The Great Gatsby” which is a richly layered novel that delves into themes of aspiration, love, and the human condition. It is a world where pursuing the American Dream leads to disillusionment and tragedy, it highlights the emptiness of materialism and the complexities of human desires and relationships. The novel critiques the idea of the American Dream, showcasing its corruption and the disillusion that often accompanies it. It talks about social stratification and the decline in morality. It expressed to me the emptiness of pursuing wealth without a moral compass. It reminds me in many ways of what is happening today in America. Are we going to lower our morality standards to accept a restructuring of our democratic foundations? Are you ready for that? I recommend this Summer read the “Great Gatsby” even if it’s for a second or third time. I am hoping it will make you reflect. Who we are? What do we really want out of life?
