REMINDER: 2024 Smithtown BOE Budget Vote and Election

The Smithtown Board of Education (BOE) Budget Vote and Election is coming on Tuesday, May 21 and Smithtown school district residents are encouraged to vote. 

The 2024-2025 Smithtown School District proposed budget will be $289,952,988, which is a 2.86 percent increase.  With this new budget, it will allow the district to do the following things: 

  • Preserve all student programs and extracurricular activities.
  • Sustain low class sizes at the elementary level.
  • Enhance opportunities at the high school with new course options.
  • Uphold dedication to student safety across all campuses.

This year's candidates will be running for a three year term commencing July 1, 2024.  Here are the candidates running for the two open seats on the board:

  • Emily Cianci
  • Karen Wontrobski-Ricciardi
