Weekly Entertainment Recap: Week of October 23rd, 2023

Loki Season 2 Episode 3 (Disney+): When Loki was originally announced and initial plot details were made public, it appeared that the show would be Marvel’s take on Quantum Leap where Loki would jump around the timeline and interact with people across history. For the first time, this show feels like it is fulfilling this idea as Loki and Mobius head back to the Chicago World’s Fair and meet a variant of Kang the Conqueror known as Victor Timely. While this episode does relitigate the same fundamental debate from the finale of season one, it is still entertaining as Miss Minutes begins to exposit some of Kang’s origin and peel back the layers of this season’s mystery.

Doom Patrol Season 4 Episode 9 (Max): Doom Patrol
always functions best when its gets weird and this latest episode encapsulates that. It feels like a season one episode where it dives into the weirdest possible take on Immortus warping reality into a surreal Christmas everyday scenario that is both funny and unnerving.

No Hard Feelings (Netflix): In a year that has seen a resurgence in R-rated comedies one of the best so far has been No Hard Feelings starring Jennifer Lawrence in one of her biggest roles in a few years. Some of the narrative work may be a little lacking and some of the emotional moments may not hit properly but a fair amount of the comedic moments do land. For a full review, click here.
