Lookable Eyewear Store Opens on Main Stree

A Lookable Eye wear store has recently opened at 83 W. Main St. in Smithtown. The official opening was on November 1 st , per Erica Gentile, the store’s manager.

The Lookable brand features a technologically advanced way to purchase eye-wear, offering something different from the traditional eye-wear purchase.

A new Lookable customer who comes into the store gets a facial scan. “This technology then uses the scan to create a 3D image of the customer’s face that allows them to virtually try on unlimited pairs of frames and see what they look like,” said Gentile. “There are also filters that can control the frame’s design, material, and color.”

Unlike conventional eyeglass stores, Lookable has partnered with name brand manufacturers and has over 4,000 frames in its catalog. Algorithms assist with “frame picks” best suited for the customer’s facial features. Frame purchases are shipped directly to the customer and adjustments are made through the purchasing process software.

For customers needing a prescription, the tele-device equipment is available in the store. Once the customer is checked, the data is virtually sent to an optometrist, who then writes the prescription and transfers it to the patient’s account. The process works for contact lenses as well.  Insurance reimbursement may be an option depending on the client's plan.
