Hawkeye Episode 5 (Disney+): Next week will be the finale so this week the show has to reunite the two titular heroes in solidarity against the newly revealed final villain of the show. With some interesting character moments between Yelena and Kate, and a moment between Echo and Kazi, this episode really fleshes out some of the more grounded aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and sets up the future for things not on a cosmic scale. It does leave one to wonder however if the ending of this episode would have been as well received had it been any other character revealed to be pulling the strings.
Wheel of Time Episode 7 (Amazon Prime): With this show also running towards its finale, the penultimate episode here feels like overloading a ton of key information into the episode. Somehow they managed to make the information seem simultaneously incredibly important and also incredibly irrelevant at the same time and, in a weird way, that is an achievement in and of itself. The identity of the Dragon Reborn has been revealed in a very anticlimactic reveal (tip to the writers, when you give everyone a backstory except for who the Dragon is going to be, it tells the viewer what’s happening) so at least the plot will definitively be resolved in the finale.
The Witcher Season 2 (Netflix): A continuation of the hit series based on the world famous fantasy novels and short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski (there were also video games) that continues to build the world and fully embraces the lore of this long running series. Henry Cavil reprises as Geralt of Rivia, the titular Witcher, in a role he disappears into. Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan also return as Yennifer and Ciri respectively and continue to move these characters into new and interesting places.

The Flash: Armageddon Parts 1-5 (CWSeed): The first of many spin-offs of CW’s Arrow is (probably) entering its final season. While The Flash has not been the most consistent of shows, with a notable downturn in quality around season four, this newest “crossover event” feels the most like watching an event comic of anything done in live action. With small roles for characters from around the Arrowverse like Alex Danvers/Sentinel (Chyler Leigh), Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning (Cress Williams), Mia Queen/Green Arrow (Katherine McNamara), and Ryan Wilder/Batwoman (Javicia Leslie), it feels like organic movement of characters across properties for a self-contained event that culminates in a moral quandary, rather than an earth-shattering fight. With the CW app, it is available to watch for free all at once with ads.
