Weekly Entertainment Recap: Week of October 9th, 2023

Ahsoka Season One Finale (Disney+): This may be the biggest example of a Disney+ Star Wars season finale that needs to be resolved in the second season, and maybe this is just because of how open Disney has been about what a future movie will be. Obviously, Ahsoka and Sabine will be back for the upcoming Heir to the Empire movie and the solution to leave the galaxy is to just hitch a ride with the purrgils again. There’s also a weird lack of urgency for the singular thing they were trying to avoid (Thrawn’s return) happening.

Loki Season 2 Episode 1 (Disney+): People have given Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania a certain amount of flack for making Kang look less formidable going into a pair of Avengers movies where he is the bad guy. Within one episode of Loki, despite never appearing on screen, Kang has been reestablished as a force to be feared. The chemistry between Mobius and Loki is great, especially with the addition of OB (Ke Huy Quan) in the sequences where they all get to play off each other.

Wheel of Time Season 2 Finale (Amazon Prime): The big recurring issue with this entire season is that it feels like setup for something else coming later down the line. The problem is, it never actually comes which leaves a bunch of unresolved plot threads that are left incomplete awaiting a third season to resolve. Unfortunately for this show, while Amazon did greenlight a third season, they could pull the plug like they have with other shows in the past
