2023 Theatrical Release Schedule

Image

As 2022 draws to a close, it is a great opportunity to look forward to what movies are coming out next year. As with last year’s list, this list is reflective of release dates as of the posting day. For example, last year’s list featured Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on a release date in December, however that was delayed twice within 2022 into 2023.

January 6th, 2023: M3gan

Allison Williams stars as Gemma, a woman who is abruptly given guardianship of her eight-year-old niece named Cady. Unable to keep up with Cady, Gemma pairs her with a prototype humanoid doll named M3gan to keep her company. James Wan (Malignant, Aquaman, Furious 7) produces in conjunction with Blumhouse with Gerard Johnstone directing.

January 13th, 2023: A Man Called Otto

A Man Called Otto is an American remake of 2015’s Best Foreign Language Film nominee A Man Called Ove, based on the 2012 novel of the same name. Tom Hanks stars as the titular Otto who was forced to retire from his job and loses his wife in quick succession and was contemplating suicide when he meets his new neighbors who reinvigorate his life. Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace, Christopher Robin, The Kite Runner) directs for Sony.

January 13th, 2023: Plane

In a movie that seems like they never quite finalized a name before announcing the release, Plane follows Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler), a pilot who performs an emergency landing of his commercial jet on a war-torn island in the South Pacific. He has to team up with Louis Gaspare (Mike Coulter), an accused murderer who was being extradited to the United States, to rescue the passengers of his flight from terrorists.

January 20th, 2023: Missing

Missing stars Storm Reid (The Invisible Man, The Suicide Squad) as June, a girl who’s mother (Nia Long) goes away on vacation with her boyfriend and subsequently goes missing. Despite being stuck thousands of miles away, June has to track down what happened to her mother.

January 27th, 2023: Distant

Details on Distant are scarce as of writing this, however what is known is that directing duo Josh Gordon and Will Speck (Blades of Glory) lead this film which features Anthony Ramos (In The Heights), Naomi Scott (Power Rangers, Aladdin), and Zachary Quinto (Star Trek) in a science fiction movie about asteroid miners who get stuck on an alien planet.

February 3rd, 2023: Knock at the Cabin

M. Night Shyamalan’s latest movie is keeping details close to the vest; however it does boast a cast that includes Rupert Grint and Dave Bautista as possibly harbingers of the apocalypse (or just liars so whatever).

February 3rd, 2023: 80 For Brady

Four senior friends (Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno, Sally Field, and Jane Fonda) travel to Houston to watch Tom Brady play what could be his last Super Bowl (granted it’s Super Bowl LI so the audience knows what happens). Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, Guy Fieri, Rob Gronkowski, and Danny Amendola play themselves as well. The movie was announced when Brady temporarily retired and production continued through his return to football so his real involvement may not be as much as previously expected.

February 10th, 2023: Magic Mike’s Last Dance

Steven Soderbergh returns to direct the third and possibly last entry in the Magic Mike franchise. Channing Tatum returns in the titular role with Salma Hayek serving as his love interest. Following Warner Brother’s merger with Discovery, this was moved from an HBOMax release to a theatrical release, but it will probably end up on streaming at some point in the short term after this.

February 17th, 2023: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is sure to put some of the post-Infinity War/Endgame skepticism to rest. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly reprise their roles as the titular Marvel heroes with Michael Douglass (Hank Pym), Michelle Pfeiffer (Janet Pym), and Jonathan Majors (He Who Remains/Kang the Conqueror) reprising from past Marvel entries. Joining the cast as a newcomer is Kathryn Newton (Freaky and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu) as Cassie Lang, taking over from Abby Ryder Fortson considering that Cassie did not die in the blip and therefore aged like normal over the five years.

February 24th, 2023: Cocaine Bear

Like all the best movies, Cocaine Bear is an entire feature film based on a sarcastic joke on Twitter. This movie is about, as the title suggests, a bear that does a ton of cocaine and goes on a killing spree. Ray Liotta, Keri Russell, Alden Ehrenreich, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and character actress Margot Martindale star in this dark and gorey comedy from Elizabeth Banks.

March 3rd, 2023: Creed III

Michael B. Jordan stars in and directs the third sequel to 2015’s Creed which follows the continued adventures of Adonis Creed, son of legendary boxer Apollo Creed. In this entry, he will be forced to confront his past when a childhood friend who did a lengthy prison sentence comes for everything Adonis has built for himself. Tessa Thompson also reprises her role.

March 10th, 2023: Scream 6

Following the runaway success of Scream this past January, a sequel was quickly put into production and will be out a little over a year after the last entry. Neve Campbell’s Sydney Prescott will not be back for the first time in franchise history due to a contract dispute between Paramount and Campbell; however Courtney Cox, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Hayden Panettiere are all reprising with Tony Revolori, Samara Weaving, and Josh Segarra joining for this entry set in New York City.

March 10th, 2023: Inside

Inside has the potential to be this year’s The Outfit in so much as it is a crime movie that appears (based on the description) to be set entirely in one location and anchored by an actor with a proven track record (Willem Dafoe). Dafoe plays an art thief named Nemo who is trapped in his penthouse after a heist goes wrong and he has to use all his skills to escape.

March 17th, 2023: 65

Up until very recently, not much was known about 65 except that the movie would be science fiction and star Adam Driver in the lead. With the new trailer, it is now apparent that it is about a person who is transported 65 million years in the past and has to contend with dinosaurs. It looks interesting to say the least and it will be nice to see Adam Driver get back to science fiction. This movie comes from Scott Beck and Bryan Woods who previously directed A Quiet Place.

March 17th, 2023: Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is probably the most up-in-the-air movie in terms of quality coming out in 2023. 2019’s Shazam! was a surprisingly good movie, with an endearing cast and some deeply emotional and heartfelt moments, the trailer that was released back in July at San Diego Comic Con makes something just feel slightly off. Maybe the movie will have the Thor: Love and Thunder problem and be tonally dissonant but it’s still best to keep optimistic since the first one worked when it really should not have been based on early marketing materials.

March 24th, 2023: John Wick Chapter 4

John Wick returns with the follow-up to 2019’s John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum that will follow the continuing adventures of John Wick as he faces off against agents of the High Table, this time for revenge for making him give up his finger in exchange for getting him back in a situation where he will not be hunted down by every human being on the planet in this impressively built world.

March 31st, 2023: Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

When the trailer dropped at San Diego Comic Con in 2022, a lot of people were taken aback because a lot of people forgot this movie was even happening. Now that the trailer is here and has been drilled into moviegoers' heads over the last six months (seriously, go see any major release for any studio and this trailer will play), the movie actually does not look bad. That said, it could also be this year’s Warcraft which did not exactly set the world on fire when it was released. Chris Pine (Star Trek), Sophia Lillis (IT), Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Dominion), Michelle Rodriguez (Fast and the Furious) and Hugh Grant (Four Weddings and a Funeral) star.

March 31st, 2023: A Good Person

Morgan Freeman and Florence Pugh star in this exploration of grief, which is good because there hasn’t been a movie that covered that topic in the post-Covid era. In seriousness, Pugh plays a young woman whose life is turned upside down when a tragedy hits and befalls both her and Freeman’s families and the two seek closure and redemption through each other’s support. Zack Braff (director of Garden State, star of Scrubs) directs.

April 7th, 2023: The Super Mario Bros Movie

Yet another movie where things just seem slightly off. Maybe it is the fact that all the characters look just slightly like the actors portraying them instead of how they’ve historically looked across the video games, maybe it is the fact that they’re trying to cram as much Mario tropes into the game as possible with Luigi’s Mansion and Super Mario Galaxy having reference on top of the franchise mainstays like the regular Super Mario, Super Mario 64, and even some story cue similarities (loosely) coming from Paper Mario. The all-star cast consists of Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong, Keegan Michael Key as Toad, and Jack Black as Bowser.

April 7th, 2023: Chevalier

Kelvin Harrison Jr. stars as Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges as it tells the story of his rise as a composer and subsequent fall after an ill-fated relationship with Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton). Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) and Minnie Driver (2021’s Cinderella) also star in Stephen Williams’ feature film directorial debut.

April 14th, 2023: Renfield

Renfield is a horror-comedy movie that stars Nicholas Holt as Renfield, the assistant to Dracula, here played by Nicolas Cage. The movie follows Renfield as he tries to get out from behind Dracula’s shadow and end the cycle of codependency. Awkwafina (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Ben Schwartz (Sonic the Hedgehog) also star.

April 21st, 2023: Evil Dead Rise

Another movie originally designed for an HBOMax release, Evil Dead Rise is the fifth movie in the Evil Dead franchise, directed by Lee Cronin and starring Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan in the lead roles. Not much is known about this movie besides the fact that it will follow two sisters who discover a book in the bowels of their apartment building that gives rise to flesh-possessing demons.

April 28th, 2023: Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.

The adaptation of Judy Blume’s controversial 1970 novel finally hits theaters this year with a massive cast including Abby Ryder Fortson (Ant-Man), Rachel McAdams (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), Kathy Bates (Titanic, The Office), and Benny Safdie (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and it is directed by Kelly Fremon Craig (Edge of Seventeen).

May 5th, 2023: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Following the death of Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War and her return in Avengers: Endgame, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will follow the continued adventures of the titular Guardians of the Galaxy as they face down the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) and dive into the origin story of Rocket. Also factoring into the story is the debut of Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) after his creation by the Sovereign in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This will mark James Gunn’s final outing as a director for Marvel Studios as he moves full-time into his role as head of DC Studios and is also supposedly the final outing for this team of the Guardians.

May 12th, 2023: Book Club: The Next Chapter

Following the runaway success of Book Club, Book Club: The Next Chapter follows the cast (Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen) as they take a vacation to Italy, a winning formula for sequels in this subgenre. Craig T. Nelson, Andy Garcia, and Don Johnson also star.

May 19th, 2023: Fast X

It’s the tenth Fast and the Furious movie, does more need to be said? Joining the cast are Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) and, for some reason, Rita Moreno (West Side Story). Following some directorial musical chairs, Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me, The Incredible Hulk) directs.

May 26th, 2023: The Little Mermaid

The biggest uphill battle that The Little Mermaid will be fighting (besides the racists who hate the movie on principle because Halle Bailey is playing Ariel) is going to be the fact that the movie is bookended by other films that showcased vast underwater worlds like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Avatar: The Way of Water and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to wrap up the year. Putting the trailer for this side-by-side with the trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water highlights this issue, however considering the trailer debuted originally in September at D23, it is possible that the effects have improved, however considering The Lion King and Aladdin’s showings, it is not best to hold one’s breath.

June 2nd, 2023: Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse

The sequel to 2018’s Best Animated Feature winner Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse finally hits theaters and has a cast even bigger than the last. Miles will have to team up with other Spider-People including Peter B. Parker’s Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman, Spider-Man 2099, the Superior Spider-Man, Ben Reilly’s Spider-Man, the iteration of Spider-Man from the 2008-2009 TV show, Spider-Punk, the Bombastic Bag-Man, and the Spider-Man from the PlayStation 4/5 Insomniac video games to take on The Spot, an interdimentional villain made up of portals to alternate dimensions. This is part one of a two part movie with part two called Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and arriving in theaters on March 29th, 2024. A little side-note, players of the PS4/5 game will know that the sequel Spider-Man 2 coming out this year will feature the arrival of Venom, could Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse be taking the role of secret wars where that iteration comes back with the Symbiote?

June 9th, 2023: Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

Considering that Bumblebee was actually not that bad, another Transformers movie set in the past could be an interesting adventure. Anthony Ramos (In The Heights) stars as the movie that introduces audiences to the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons in this entry set in the 90s.

June 16th, 2023: Elemental

Pixar’s latest entry follows Ember, a living ball of flame, and Wade, a living drop of water, as they form a relationship in a city where living iterations of the four elements live in harmony. Peter Sohn (The Good Dinosaur) directs.

June 16th, 2023: The Flash

This movie is in a bit of a strange place. It seemed for a while that this movie was going to operate as a reboot of sorts for the DC Universe. Originally it boasted cameos from Henry Cavill, Gal Godot, Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton with a plot allegedly revolving (for some reason considering it’s a Flashpoint adaptation) around fighting Zod with Supergirl (Sasha Calle). Recent reports indicate that a lot of the cameos have been pulled which, when coupled with the off-screen antics of Ezra Miller, Warner Bros/Discovery’s desire to take tax cuts as part of the merger, and the fact that the universe is steering into a hard reboot anyway, one has to wonder why they’re bothering to release this movie at all.

June 23rd, 2023: Asteroid City

Wes Anderson has a new movie coming out. It’s going to have quirky dialogue, a lot of pastels, interesting set design, and a huge ensemble cast. This one is set in a fictional American desert town in the 1950s for a scholarly competition and festival called the Junior Stargazer Convention.

June 30th, 2023: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

After 15 years, Indiana Jones returns for a new adventure from director James Mangold (Logan). Joining Harrison Ford on this adventure is Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) as his goddaughter as he faces off against Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) who plays an Oppenheimer-type former Nazi that works for the United States defense program and Boyd Holbrook (Logan).

July 7th, 2023: Insidious: Fear The Dark

Patrick Wilson directs and stars in the third Insidious movie which follows Dalton (Ty Simpkins) as he prepares to go away to college. Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, Firestarter) wrote the script and Rose Byrne also returns for this film.

July 14th, 2023: Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part I

The seventh movie in the Mission Impossible franchise also marks the arrival of Pom Klementieff and Haley Atwell to the series alongside returning stars Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, and Rebecca Ferguson. Christopher McQuarrie returns to direct this entry following Mission Impossible: Fallout meaning there is a strong chance that Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part I will be the strongest action movie of 2023. Part II hits theaters on June 28th, 2024.

July 21st, 2023: Barbie

Hasbro’s second movie of the year will be Barbie, though the take will probably be somewhat unconventional. It is directed by Greta Gerwig (Little Women, Ladybird) and stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken with Simu Liu, America Ferrara, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, and Will Farrell also starring. The teaser trailer was a pretty solid homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey and the movie could be something interesting.

July 21st, 2023: Oppenheimer

Following his very public departure from Warner Brothers when they moved to day and date releases on streaming in 2021, Christopher Nolan’s first movie for Universal (which shows the whole thing was about money and not about the integrity of the theatrical experience because to this day Universal is dumping movies on Peacock on the same day it goes theatrical but that’s a conversation for another day) is a biopic of Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), the father of the atomic bomb. Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Rami Malek, and Alden Ehrenreich also star.

July 28th, 2023: The Marvels

Wrapping up Marvel’s theatrical offerings for 2023 is The Marvels which acts as a sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel, 2021’s WandaVision, and 2022’s Ms. Marvel because it follows the continued adventures of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Paris) as they unravel some of the mysteries around these relics that are appearing that seem to connect to Kang the Conqueror and the Quantum Realm. Nia DaCosta (Candyman) directs however not much else is known about this title.

August 4th, 2023: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

Paramount releases this film from Nickelodeon Animation that seems to be a standard Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles story. Allegedly the story will center around the titular turtles actually being teenagers for the first time, however a cast has not been announced yet. That said, Jeff Rowe directs coming off the success of The Mitchells Vs. The Machines so the movie could be interesting.

August 4th, 2023: Meg 2: The Trench

Jason Statham returns in a sequel to 2018’s movie about a killer megalodon. Considering how little is known about the movie, it would not be surprising if it gets delayed out of 2023, however it is still early considering it is set for an August release.

August 11th, 2023: Gran Turismo

Neill Blomkamp (District 9) directs this movie that is apparently based on a true story about a teenage Gran Turismo fan who played the game and used the skills to win a bunch of races and become a professional race car driver. David Harbour (Violent Night) and Orlando Bloom (Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring).

August 11th, 2023: Haunted Mansion

Disney’s latest attempt to make their attractions into movies to sell them to international markets (there’s an interesting history around why Disney parks have so many generic non-Disney attractions but that’s a story for another day) is a reboot of Haunted Mansion. Lakeith Stanfield (Sorry to Bother You) stars alongside Tiffany Haddish (Night School), Owen Wilson (Loki), Rosario Dawson (Clerks III), and Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween Ends) with Justin Simien (Dear White People) directing.

August 11th, 2023: The Last Voyage of the Demeter

There’s a point in Dracula where the titular vampire arrives in London on a ship that is completely abandoned and has been burned at sea. This is the story of what happened on that ship. David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man and The Suicide Squad) and Corey Hawkins (Kong: Skull Island) star in this movie directed by André Øvredal (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark).

August 18th, 2023: Blue Beetle

The most intriguing movie of DC’s 2023 release slate is Blue Beetle. Like a few other movies coming out, this was originally slated as an HBOMax release before being moved to theatrical. Unlike DC’s other movies, this one does not have any apparent ties to the existing DC Universe and could potentially end up carrying forward into the new universe being created. Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) stars as Jamie Reyes who finds an alien beetle that bestows him with superpowered armor. Susan Sarandon (Zoolander 2) stars as Victoria Kord, wife of Ted Kord, the second Blue Beetle, who will serve as antagonist in the movie.

September 1st, 2023: The Equalizer 3

Plot details are scarce, however Antoine Fuqua returns to direct the third movie in The Equalizer franchise with Denzel Washington returning as Robert McCall.

September 8th, 2023: The Nun 2

The latest expansion of the world of The Conjuring is a sequel to 2018’s The Nun. This entry is directed by Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) and stars Storm Reid (Searching), Taissa Farmiga (The Nun), and Anna Poppelwell (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe). This entry will bring Sister Irene back into conflict with the demon Valak.

September 15th, 2023: A Haunting in Venice

Following the success(?) of Death on the Nile, Kenneth Branagh directs and returns as Hercule Poirot when he attends a party at a haunted hotel in Venice where someone ends up dead. The cast includes Jude Hill (Belfast), Jamie Dornan (Belfast), Tina Fey (Soul), and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once).

September 22nd, 2023: The Expendables 4

Joining the returning cast members Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture are Megan Fox (Transformers), 50 Cent, Tony Jaa, Levy Tran, and Andy Garcia in a globetrotting adventure as the titular Expendables try to stop a nuclear war between the United States and Russia. Iko Uwais (The Raid 2) stars as well as the villain.

September 22nd, 2023: Next Goal Wins

Taika Waititi’s latest movie tells the story of the American Samoa national football team as they attempt to rebound from one of the worst losses in World Cup history. Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), Will Arnett (The LEGO Batman Movie), and Elizabeth Moss (The Invisible Man) star.

October 6th, 2023: Kraven the Hunter

Sony’s latest attempt to try and convince the moviegoing public that they care about entire movies about iconic Spider-Man villains is Kraven the Hunter. It is supposedly a faithful adaptation with the titular Kraven the Hunter portrayed as a “conservationist” and “protector of the natural world” which is exactly why his character wears the pelt of a leopard he killed. Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron) stars in the lead while Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) plays his love interest Calypso and Fred Hechinger (Fear Street) plays Chameleon. With all these villains, there is no word on who he will be facing off against, however they are played by Christopher Abbott (The Sleepwalker) and Alessandro Nivola (Amsterdam). J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year) directs.

October 13th, 2023: The Exorcist

The Exorcist gets a legacy sequel to act as both a reboot and sequel from Blumhouse. David Gordon Green (Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends so draw the conclusions that you will from that) directs this movie that stars Leslie Odom Jr. (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) and features the return of Ellen Burstyn as a demonic entity possesses a twelve-year-old girl and two priests need to perform an exorcism to save her.

October 27th, 2023: Saw X

Not much is known about the tenth entry in the main Saw franchise besides the fact that it will feature the return of Tobin Bell as Jigsaw and Kevin Greutert (Saw VI and Saw 3D) will be directing.

November 3rd, 2023: Dune Part II

Following the success of 2021’s Dune Part I, Denis Villenueve was given the greenlight to finish out the story based on Frank Herbert’s seminal work of science fiction Dune. Picking up where the previous one left off, this movie will tell the story of Paul Atredies as he teams up with the Fremen to get revenge on those who destroyed his family. Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, and Stellan Skarsgard reprise their roles and are joined by Florence Pugh (Black Widow) as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler (Elvis) as Feyd-Rautha, Christopher Walken (Seven Psychopaths) as Emperor Shaddam IV, and Lea Seydoux as Lady Margot. This is where the Dune series starts to get a little weirder and hopefully this will do well enough to warrant Dune: Messiah to be adapted.

November 17th, 2023: The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Following 2020’s release of the prequel book for The Hunger Games, Francis Lawrence returns to the franchise to direct the adaptation starring Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) Viola Davis (Black Adam), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria) and Jason Schwartzman (any number of Wes Anderson movies). Having read the book there are some concerns that the book is too big to adapt as one movie, however it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

November 22nd, 2023: Wish

Disney’s animated feature for 2023 (and the hundredth anniversary of the studio) is Wish which tells the origin of the wishing star. Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) stars in the lead.

December 15th, 2023: Wonka

Acting as a prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wonka will tell the story of Willy Wonka’s early days as he creates his chocolate empire. Timothee Chalamet stars in his second leading role in as many months in a movie that also stars Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Keegan Michael-Key (The Predator), Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water), and Jim Carter (Downton Abbey).

December 20th, 2023: Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2

Gil Kenan (the 2015 reboot of Poltergeist) directs this sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife which will follow the Spengler family as they return to New York City. McKenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, and Carrie Coon all reprise their roles. The movie may be cutting it a little close considering it has not yet entered production so it is entirely a possibility that it gets bumped into 2024.

December 25th, 2023: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Originally slated for release in December 2022 and delayed multiple times as part of DC’s slate shuffling around, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom should finally hit theaters on Christmas day in 2023. James Wan returns to direct and Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Amber Heard, Dolph Lundgren, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II all reprise their roles.
