After a two-year absence due to concerns over the Covid-19 Pandemic, the St. James Farmers Market has returned. The event was opened on June 4th
and will continue through October 1st.

The St. James Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday just adjacent to the St. James Lutheran Church, which donates the use of their parking lot for the four-hour event. It is sponsored by the St. James Civic Association, which collects a fee from the venders and organizes the event.

On a bright and sunny Saturday on July 30th, about 25 venders were set up for people to browse through. There was something for everyone including fresh honey, baked goods, face painting, colorful flowers and plants, home cooked Latino cuisine, doggie treats and several craft stands. Live music was provided to enjoy.

One interesting attraction, titled “Write Through Me,” features artist Bruce Pandolfo, who creates a unique and individual poem upon demand, following a brief discussion with the customer as to what’s on their mind and what they would like to write about.

Tracy Ann, of the St. James Civic Association, was busy walking around, greeting visitors and checking on the venders. She was happy to be back with the market following the two-year absence. Tracy explained that money raised by the event is then used by the Civic Association in an ongoing effort to support the St. James Community.

According to the St. James Civic Association’s website, https://www.stjamesny11780.org/, their goal is to make the neighborhood a better place to live by continuing its efforts to keep the community safe, attractive and a desirable. The website contains a history of St. James, various photos and a calendar of community events.
